Student Project: Haptic Animation for Blind
The project proposes a non-visual animation for the blind
through a haptic audio medium and also a platform for the
very animation. At first stage was to create an animation
which is not harnessing the sense of sight and hence found
helpful for blind people. Opportunities of audio medium was
found and is used appropriately. As the part of this project,
blind schools and blind training centres were visited to
identify blind psychology and the content for the animation.
Understanding of the content was done thoroughly through
talks with related personalities and with literature and
internet and was analyzed so as to communicate it in the
best way. Mapping of the music with the animation was done
according to this analysis. Various digital and mechanical
technologies were experimented to create a suitable platform
for the animation. The output is expected to create a new
way of experiencing animation and to open the doors to the
possibilities of animation to the world of blind
War Memorial, INS Valsura, Jamnagar, Gujarat
The project was to redesign the war memorial for INS
VALSURA, Indian Navy’s naval base in Jamnagar, Gujarat.
The redesigned memorial will be inaugurated on INS
VALSURA’s 60th Annual celebration day. The design
focussed on creating an experience of Love, Respect,
Honour, Reverence, Patriotism and Remembrance. The
metaphors include Waves,Water, Ocean, Navy, Ship and
"The Blaze light of Valsura" [the official symbol of INS
Valsura] was one of the challenges in the design.
Appropriate usage of materials [ Glass and Granite]
and lights has been taken cared of to create the balance
and to adjust the focus.
